Baptism of Children

Requirements for Scheduling A Baptism:

Parents must be registered as members of St. Mary’s Church and attend Mass here regularly. Baptisms are scheduled on Sundays at 11:30 AM in the chapel. If this is the baptism of your first child, or you have never taken a baptismal preparation course for your other children, please take the online certification course "Belongingbefore scheduling your child’s baptism. A certificate of completion will be sent to the Parish Office to verify you have successfully completed the course.​

Godparents

Godparents are expected to be practicing their faith regularly and be Catholic. If there is a second Godparent, it is permissible for them to be baptized and regularly practice another Christian faith if they are not Catholic. If there will be 2 Godparents, they must be male and female.

Older Children

Children 7 years and older are expected to participate in our Family Faith Formation Program or be enrolled at St. Mary’s Parish School.

Belonging

Baptism in the Family of God
Belonging: Baptism in the Family of God is designed to provide parents with an incredible encounter with Jesus and with the Church.
 
This program seeks to prepare parents to have their children baptized and to win over their hearts at this important time in their lives. Parents will learn what it means to be children of God and that in the Church, they will always have a place where they belong.

Certification Course includes:

  • Engaging and effective videos with Father Mike Schmitz 

  • Online digital Parent’s Guide that includes summaries, activities and discussion questions

  • Assessment quizzes for each session to check for understanding

  • Course completion certificate given when program is 100% completed.
