Luke 7:11-17

Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples
and a great crowd went with him. As he drew near to the gate of
the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the
only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a
considerable crowd from the town was with her. And when the
Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not
weep.” Then he came up and touched the bier, and the
bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”
And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him
to his mother. Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying,
“A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his
people!” And this report about him spread through the whole
of Judea and all the surrounding country.
Luke 12:35-40

Jesus said to his disciples: “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like
men who are waiting for their master to come home from the
wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when hecomes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress
himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will
come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch, or in the
third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! But know
this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the
thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken
into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an
hour you do not expect.”
Luke 23:33, 39-43

And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there
they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and
one on his left. One of the criminals who were hanged railed at
him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But
the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since
you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds;
but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus,
remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to
him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Luke 23:44-46, 50, 52-53

It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed. And
the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my
spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of
Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous
man, This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid
him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid.
Luke 4:13-16, 28-35

That very day two of them were going to a village named
Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While
they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near
and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing
him. So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, but they urged him strongly,
saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now
far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, “Did
not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road,
while he opened to us the Scriptures?” And they rose that same
hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and
those who were with them gathered together, saying, “The Lord
has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” Then they told what
had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in
the breaking of the bread.
